Rudolph Matas Surgical Society
The Rudolph Matas Surgical Society (RMSS) is a student-run organization dedicated to advancing knowledge of the art and science of surgery through education, experiential opportunities, and research. Through the RMSS- sponsored Surgical Observation Program, the first of its kind in North American medical schools, first- and second-year students have the opportunity to observe surgery from within the operating field and interact with surgeons performing procedures. In addition, RMSS co-sponsors a Suture Clinic to instruct students on suturing technique. RMSS also hosts monthly speaking events where medical professionals offer a wide array of perspectives on the field of surgery, its newest advancements, and what it means to be a surgical resident or attending surgeon in medicine today. Through its programs and events, RMSS seeks to provide Tulane medical students with opportunities to explore the exciting field of surgery.

Membership Info:
- You must be a member of RMSS to participate in the programs offered.
- Membership dues ($5) will be collected at the first RMSS meeting. (Cash or checks payable to Rudolph Matas Surgical Society are acceptable.)
- After that date, please bring membership dues ($5) to any one of our future meetings or give it to one of the officers allong with your name, class, and email address.
- Suture Clinic (co-sponsored with TEMIG)- Sign-up information will be posted soon.
- Sterile Techniques Training (required for participation in Surgical
Observation program)- tentatively scheduled for early November; sign-up
information will be posted soon
