History of Medicine Society

http://www.som.tulane.edu/groups/homs/index.htm.

Founded in 1933 by three medical students (B. Bernard Weinstein, R. Gordon Holcombe, and Bradley Brownson), the Tulane History of Medicine Society is one of the oldest History of Medicine Societies in the United States. It is also the only student run group of its kind in the country. It serves to promote and foster interests in the historical background of contemporary medicine and the tradition of the humanities in medicine.

This organization sponsors a wide variety of luncheon lectures on the history of medicine, an annual paper competition, elective courses in the history of medicine, and the annual B. Bernard Weinstein Memorial Lecture and Banquet.

Stay tuned for details of our banquet in April 2009!!
