Graduate Programs

The Department of Pharmacology offers two different programs of instruction and research training. The Masters Program is a one year program designed to attract those students who are interested in improving their credentials to compete for admission to a medical school, as well as those individuals who are interested in this degree to achieve their professional goals. The objectives of this one-year degree program are further described in the Masters section of this web site.

The Doctorate Program is designed to train graduate students in a specialized subdiscipline of pharmacology in preparation for a career in research and teaching for a position in an academic institution, industry or a governmental agency. Research training is available in biochemical, cardiovascular, chemical, pulmonary, and renal pharmacology as well as hematopharmacology, neuropharmacology, and toxicology. The program of didactic instruction is tailored to the individual student's needs. The details of this program are further described in the Doctorate section of this web site.
