Program Overview
Welcome to our Pediatric Residency Program!
The integrated pediatric residency program of the Tulane University School of Medicine and the Ochsner Clinic Foundation offers you, the pediatrician-in-training, an exceptional opportunity to develop competence in all aspects of health care for children and adolescents. Our program strives to provide a model of excellence in clinical care, including preventive, primary, and subspecialty care.
A major goal of the Tulane/Ochsner program is to equip our residents with a comprehensive, in-depth understanding of normal
growth and development and the diseases that affect infants, children and adolescents. Through clinical experience and intensive faculty instruction, our residents attain broad knowledge in the field of pediatric and develop personal excellence in the essential skills of history taking, physical examination and laboratory and clinical procedures. We approach the child as a whole, integrating his or her acute problem with the child's stage of growth and development.
Graduated responsibility for patient care is the hallmark of our program. You will also be introduced to principles of research through discussion, example and participation. Upon completion of your training, you will have the background for a career in any area of pediatrics, whether it's a general pediatric practice in your community, a subspecialty practice, university or hospital-based practice, research or education. Whatever your career goal, you have chosen a rewarding and fulfilling specialty.
