Message from the CME Chairman A key mission of the Department of Pediatrics at Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans is education. In addition to educating medical students and pediatric residents, the department of pediatrics is pleased to provide CME to local, regional, and national pediatric providers. As chair of the CME Committee, I am proud to present the CME activities of the department. To begin with, our department hosts the annual Pediatric Update for the Primary Care Physician. Co-hosted by Ochsner Clinic Foundation, this national CME conference is held each spring around the first weekend of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. In addition to hearing cutting edge lectures by local and national speakers, participants can enjoy the varied musical offerings at Jazz Fest. Information and registration is available at Tulane University’s Center for Continuing Education (504-988-5466 or www.cme.tulane.edu). Next, the pediatric department hosts the Saturday Afternoon Pediatric CME Series. Held at a local restaurant three times per year, this regional conference consists of a delicious meal followed by a series of speakers on topics of interest to general pediatric practitioners. Again, information and registration is available from the Center for Continuing Education (contact information is above). Lastly, the department of pediatrics hosts the Pediatric Grand Rounds scientific session, which is held very Thursday morning at 7:30 a.m. and is co-hosted by Ochsner Clinic Foundation. Pediatric providers are welcome to attend any Grand Rounds session, and CME credit is offered.
