| A distinguished and dedicated faculty consists of board-certified pathologists, each with recognized expertise in one of the subspecialties of pathology. In addition to individuals with expertise in liver, lung, kidney, breast, skin, eye, pediatric and nervous system pathology, the department boasts individuals with particular expertise in molecular pathology, flow cytometry, immunopathology, electron microscopy and cytopathology. In the area of clinical pathology and laboratory medicine, there are faculty members with expertise in hematopathology, microbiology, blood banking and transfusion medicine, clinical chemistry, computer science and laboratory administration. In addition, our faculty is active as consultants, teachers, contributors to the scientific literature, lecturers at national and international meetings, research investigators and members of scientific journal editorial boards. Moreover, a number of distinguished scientists enhance the Tulane Medical faculty, including Andrew V. Schally, PhD, chief of experimental medicine, a recipient of the Nobel Prize for Medicine and Physiology for his pioneering work in the field of peptide hormone research. Research by members of the Tulane faculty has helped distinguish the medical center as a world-class leader. |
