Policy Regarding Tulane Medical Students
and Disaster Planning

 

The following policy applies to students at the medical school when a Disaster Alert (hurricane, flood, etc.) is made by the uptown campus.

T1 and T2 students: Are dismissed in accordance with University policy. Students are advised to frequent the university emergency information web page* for instructions regarding resumption of classes.

T3 students: Are to continue their patient care activities until complete or until the close of the business day at which point they are dismissed in accordance with the University Disaster Plan. They are advised to monitor the university emergency information web page for instructions regarding resumption of classes.

T4 students performing sub-internships: Subinterns are necessary for patient care. In the event of a disaster, they are to continue with patient care activities throughout the disaster. They are to minimize potential damage to self or property.

T4 students on electives: Are dismissed in accordance with University policy.
