Roy S. Weiner, M.D.

Dr. Roy Weiner is the Schlieder Professor of Medical Oncology and Director of the Tulane Cancer Center and also serves as Associate Director/Co-Investigator of the CRCA Program. Dr. Weiner trained at the NCI, at the Institut for Cancerologie et d'Immunogenetique in Villejuif under Prof. George Mathe and at Harvard. His laboratory research focused on stem cell physiology and cryobiology of lymphoid populations. He has enormous experience in designing and executing small translational clinical trials, large prospective randomized therapeutic trials, and the analysis of large registry databases. He has directed cancer activities as PI of the NCI-funded Cancer Center Planning Grant at the University of Florida. During his tenure as Program Director at the University of Florida, he was responsible for the training of 29 medical oncologists, 14 of whom currently hold full-time academic positions on the faculty of major medical schools. He was also the laboratory preceptor for eight trainees who are now full-time academicians and have independent research programs. He has served the NIH as Chairman of the Clinical Sciences Study.


 

 


 

Richard Culbertson, Ph.D.

Dr. Richard Culbertson is Associate Professor and Director, Institute for Health Services Research. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Harvard University, a Master of Health Administration degree from the University of Minnesota and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Sociology from the University of California, San Francisco. He has served as the Director of the Master of Health Administration Program at Indiana University-Indianapolis, as the Associate Dean for Administration and Finance at the University of California, San Francisco Medical Group and as CEO and COO for several major teaching hospitals. Dr. Culbertson has published articles in scholarly and professional journals with primary interest in academic medical centers and managed care, organizational structure of medical schools and organization of medical practices to promote physician autonomy. Dr. Culbertson is a reviewer for Health Care Financing Review in Rockville, Maryland. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Aurora Health System of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was named a W.K. Kellogg Foundation National Leadership Fellow and Emerging Young Leader in Health Care by the Healthcare Forum. At Tulane Dr. Culbertson serves as Chair of the Doctoral Studies Committee for the School of Public Health.
