Introduction to Neurosurgery
Students are given an introduction to research, basic clinical skills, and opportunities
for careers in neurosurgery. The course is a preceptorship with role-model neurosurgeon
to provide personalized instruction, teaching, and mentoring through experience in the OR,
research lab, conferences and hospital rounds.

Intro to Neurosurgery through Observation in the Operating Room
Observation of surgeries in the operating room. Grand Rounds on Fridays at 8:30 a.m. provide
information on all surgical cases for the upcoing week at TMC, MCLNO and VAMC. By attending
grand rounds, specific surgery cases can be selected for the following week. The student may
choose to observe one or more cases depending upon their schedule. Teaching by the attending
will occur during surgery.
