
This slide represents a coronal section of the cerebral hemispheres at the level of the caudate nuclei and anterior portion of the temporal lobes. The brain shows cortical atrophy with enlarged sulci. The white matter shows areas of gray, irregular discoloration (arrows). One is located on the left side of the slide in the periventricular area and another is located in the centrum semiovale in the right hemisphere.This gray discoloration of the white matter represents irregular demyelinating plaques. Diagnosis: Multiple Sclerosis
