"Liver Function Test" Panels

Related laboratory tests may be collected into groups called "panels" for convenience in ordering. A typical liver function test panel might include:

Total Protein
Albumin
Total bilirubin
AST
ALT
Alkaline Phosphatase

The panel is for convenience only and isn't required in all cases: order what is needed based on the clinical presentation

Once the diagnosis is set, it's unnecessary to continue ordering the entire panel, plus confirmatory tests (ALT and GGT) merely to follow the disease
