Tax - in contrast to other leukemia viruses
The product of tax gene is essential for viral replication, it stimulates transcription of viral mRNA by acting on 5íLTR.
Tax also activates transcription of c-fos, c-sis, gene encoding for cyt.IL-2 and its receptor, and the gene for GM-CSF.
