Pseudomonas abscess

Here's a Pseudomonas abscess of the lung. The center is filled with white creamy pus and around the periphery you can see the so-called pyogenic membrane which consists of granulation tissue. Again, notice the closeness of the pleural surface which is typical. This increases the likelihood of rupture into the pleural cavity and then pyemia.
