| This is an abscess in the right lung of a child who had staphylococcal pneumonia. The larynx and trachea are at the top. You can identify the superior, middle and lower lobes. The dissecting knife has opened an abscess in the lcwer part of the upper lobe. It is just beneath the pleura and is filled with pus and necrotic debris. |
