SextrC14P1-1: This a classic pattern for a lesion of chondrodermatitis nodularis helicis. The epidermis shows hyperkeratosis and acanthosis.Centrally, there is a defect in the epidermis. Brightly acidophilic fibrinoid is deposited along the floor of the defect (red arrows).  Blue arrows identify a zone of dermal fibrosis. Green arrows identify a zone of chondroid metaplasia. Outside these central zones, the dermis shows solar elastosis.
