S8C22aP9aLymphocytic Infiltrates

S8C22aP9a-1: In the perivenular infiltrates, the cells are rather loosely clustered; in general, the small lymphoid cells have enlarged, but mostly round, nuclei. The dilated vessel near the top of the field is probably a dilated lymphatic. The loose spacing and delicate size of collagen bundles of the reticular dermis is interpreted as evidence of edema (polymorphic light eruption).

S8C22aP9a-2: At higher magnification, the small lymphoid cells have enlarged nuclei; they are activated (polymorphic light eruption).

S8C22aP9a-3: The activated lymphocytes are loosely spaced in the perivascular spaces; they have more cytoplasm than classic, small lymphocytes (nuclear characteristics are not “monocytoid”).
