S5C9aP3a-1: Lymphoid infiltrates and cytopathic changes are relatively confined to the intermediate zone between the basal and the superficial units of the epidermis. There are mild vacuolar changes at the
dermal-epidermal interface (subacute LE).
S5C9aP3a-2: Cytopathic changes are represented in the intermediate zone. The basal unit is hyperplastic. The superficial unit is hyperplastic; it contains scattered necrotic keratinocytes (subacute LE).
