S4C26P18-1: In the category of the pigmented purpuras, lichen aureus often is histologically distinctive. The infiltrates tend to be confluent in the upper portion of the reticular dermis and in the papillary dermis. The infiltrates are lymphohistiocytic; they often are rich in histiocytes. Extravasated red blood cells and hemosiderin deposits, if represented, are an aid in diagnosis. |
