Targetoid hemosiderotic hemangioma: Targetoid “hemangioma” is a poorly defined vascular tumor. The designation gives recognition to common clinical features. The lesion,
particularly at the periphery, is ecchymotic; eventually, the ecchymotic qualities give way to the pigmentation provided by hemosiderin deposits. The vascular pattern more closely corresponds to those of an
hemangioendothelioma
than an hemangioma; the lesion, however, is benign with a tendency to partially involute. Bulging endothelial cells with plump, dark nuclei and focal papillary patterns are additional features. The patterns histologically overlap, in part, with those of Dabska’s tumor (C15aC3aP1-1-7).
