S15C2P1-Xanthogranuloma
BuiltWithNOF

S15C2P1-1:The tumor in the dermis extends to the left margin of the section. It extends close to the dermal-epidermal interface. Centrally, and to the left, the patterns are diffuse. To the right, the lesion infiltrates among collagen bundles of the reticular dermis (juvenile xanthogranuloma).

S15C2P1-2: The infiltrates are composed of pale, acidophilic (histiocytic) cells, and vacuolated (xanthoma) cells. The epidermis is not involved, but lesions of this type sometimes do involve the epidermis.

S15C2P1-3: Pale histiocytes are closely aggregated; they have round, or somewhat irregular nuclei with delicate chromatin. There is a loose sprinkling of lymphocytes. There are occasional migratory (newly recruited) histiocytes (elongated, “naked” nuclei).

S15C2P1-4: In this field, some of the histiocytes have vacuolated cytoplasm. There are also vacuolated giant cells; one giant cell, to the left of the center of the field, shows the features of a touton giant cell.

S15C2P1-5: Many of the histiocytes and giant cells in this field have vacuolated cytoplasm. Touton type giant cells are represented.
