S13C19P17-Paget Disease

S13C19P17-1: In this field showing a portion of a lesion of Paget’s disease, two blue arrows identify cells with mucicarminophilic material in their cytoplasm (mucicarmine stain).

S13C19P17-2: An alcian blue stain (PAS-alcian blue stain) shows PAS positivity in the cytoplasm of the neoplastic cells; the cells form clusters in the epidermis. Some of the PAS + cells are outlined by blue deposits at the cell membrane level. A cell centrally (blue arrow) shows positive staining of its cytoplasm; the alcian blue stain identifies deposits of acid mucopolysaccharides (i.e., mucinous material produced by the neoplastic cells).

S13C19P17-3: With an immuno-reaction for CEA, the neoplastic cells, in clusters in the epidermis, are positive.
