S12C12aP2a-Atypical
Acid Fast Infection

S12C12aP2a-1: The pattern is that of a neutrophilic collagenosis; neutrophils infiltrate the dermis among collagen bundles. A sprinkling of histiocytes is also a feature, but the patterns do not have a clearly defined granulomatous quality. The patterns are not those of a classic suppurative granuloma. These infiltrates were relatively confined to the lower 1/2 of the reticular dermis (infection with acid-fast bacilli ).

S12C12aP2a-2: The preponderant cell of the interstitial infiltrates is a neutrophil.

S12C12aP2a-3: Acid-fast organisms are numerous in the interstitial infiltrates.
