S11C11bP6bRhinoscleroma

S11C11bP6b-1: The biopsy site is nasal mucosa. Squamous epithelium along the surface is hyperplastic. Infiltrates of vacuolated histiocytes are prominent in the sub-epithelial tissue (rhinoscleroma).

S11C11bP6b-2: Basically, two cell types are represented. There are diffuse infiltrates of vacuolated, mononuclear cells (histiocytes). Plasma cells are prominent in the perivascular areas; they are also sprinkled among the vacuolated cells.

S11C11bP6b-3: Some of the vacuolated cells have a single, large vacuole; most have multiple vacuoles. Hyaline bodies, above the center of the field, are Russell bodies.

S11C11bP6b-4: The infiltrates are composed of vacuolated histiocytes and plasma cells. Red arrows identify a cluster of hyaline bodies.
