Peer-Assisted Learning System
|
|
PALS was established in 2001 with a mission to enhance student learning outside the
classroom. This system pairs a senior student and 5 first year medical students into
a small learning group.
First year students are responsible for providing topics for discussion relevent to
their classwork. The senior students are present to facilitate these group
discussions.
Past participants have found these groups to be effective and worthwhile. First
year students benefit from tackling tough material in a supportive group environment,
while building friendships and teamwork skills. Senior students find the review of
basic science material useful as they prepare to begin their residency training.
